People might very well ask: How can nature be language, logic, and mathematics when, more often than not, language, logic, and mathematics lead to absurdities and complete nonsense? Well, my answer is that language, logic, and mathematics comprise all of nature, and absurdities and nonsense comprise most of nature. Therefore, it makes sense to say that nature is language, logic, and mathematics. One might very well state that nature is concrete, while language, logic, and mathematics are abstract, so how can nature be language, logic, and mathematics, when language, logic, and mathematics are abstract? My answer is that there are such things as concrete abstractions, and abstract abstractions, and nature consists of both concrete as well as abstract abstractions. (8/24/08)

I Want My Students to Follow Socrates' Example

I want my students to follow Socrates' example by knowing that they know nothing, because Socrates said, "I know that I know nothing," and that statement alone makes Socrates the smartest person who has ever lived by far. Knowing that one knows nothing is reason enough to seek the truth, and truth can only be sought and found by carrying on scientific, technological, and philosophical dialogues with nature. If cosmic expansion is true, then why doesn't distant galaxies appear about the same size or even larger than closer galaxies, if the cones of light from distant galaxies will expand more than closer galaxies, due to cosmic expansion? Cosmologists should concede that there is a problem with cosmic expansion and the nonmagnification of the cones of light from distant galaxies. Perceptions do not have causal relationships with each other, because the only cause in nature is zero (nothingness) or zero entropy. Philosophers have a moral obligation to educate the masses in philosophy, because the masses should be told about the jeopardy that they face in the next hundred years, if they do not educate themselves in philosophy now. I have chosen philosophy as the means of educating the masses, because philosophy is probably the only intellectual discipline that the masses can master without studying any advanced academic subjects.
